Susan Hansen the creator and owner of Joy of Taste began her culinary journey young. living and travelling in different countries such as Portugal, Australia and Denmark, thus giving her the opportunity to try a great array of foods and partake in the social rituals, that although subtle affect our way of eating and its impact on our lives. Living in Cities such as London offered food diversity and
cultural widening of the world of food.
Moving to Copenhagen is where she became fully immersed in food. Having left behind a career in marketing in a publishing house in London Susan was ready to embrace a career in food. In Copenhagen, she took her culinary skills to new levels, with the Danes love of quality food this was a fantastic beginning.
Her skills have been learnt through Michelin star chefs, Cordon Bleu cookery training and most importantly life, travelling, experimenting, tasting, reading, talking, observing. Susan's interest in food runs beyond the preparation it bleeds itself into her everyday life. She is deeply fascinated with the social and historical aspects of food as well as the scientific and the nutritional along
with sustainability issues.
In her early career day’s she ran food groups whereby she had experimental supper evenings. These were highly rewarding and immense fun, having formed a group of experimental food lovers they tried food from many Countries and wine tasting to compliment, from here she began to teach and then began Canapé events where her love of detail and the ability to create small size meals into bitesize without compromising the quality of flavour were realised.
Joy of Taste was established over 11 years ago when Susan returned to England and began to run her catering venture. The ethos is simple quality ingredients prepared with care and imagination. At Joy of Taste we pride ourselves on attention to detail and an inventive edge. The venture has proved very successful and we have catered very high profile events with great success and can boast an audience of discerning food lovers.
Susan's thirst has yet to be quenched and still after years of spending all her time in food she is still fascinated to learn more, read more and
become ever more integrated.
